Despite fantastic crowds and atmosphere, it was a tough day, with rain and strong winds from start to finish as well as rolling hills and what’s known as “heartbreak hill” at mile 21. She finished in 3:43:54.

As the festive season continued, our runners took part in a range of races to see out the year.

Kicking things off in true Christmas style were John Palmer and Annette Maynard, who took part in the Santa's on the Seafront race in Worthing. Using the Worthing parkrun course, Santa's on the Seafront is a friendly 5k that raises money for MNDA West Sussex South (Motor Neurone Disease Association), in memory of 54-year-old Stuart Acaster, organised by his wife Sue and Run Academy Worthing. No official times were recorded but Annette took the first female spot.

Staying on the South Coast, Jamie Goodhead sped round the Portsmouth Coastal Waterside Marathon in 3:28:24.
